Love, Love, LOVE my CHI! Still going strong after 7 years! This is the best hair straightener I have ever used. I got it as a Christmas present 7 years ago, and it is still working perfectly. I have VERY thick, VERY long (lower back), wavy/curly hair and it takes no more than 15-20 minutes to straighten my hair with this flat iron. I've used it every single morning for about 6 of the years I've owned it, and still use it about 2-3 times a week. It still works JUST AS WELL as the day I received it. Though it's a little bit pricey, these last FOREVER and work magnificently. I have never had a single problem with it and it has been thrown in countless suitcases and overnight bags, thrown around in cabinets and drawers; I haven't taken the best care of it. With some cheaper straighteners, the ceramic on the hot plates seems to fade away and the product stops working as well but this has not been the case. Still heats up in a matter of seconds, gets VERY HOT, and gets my crazy morning hair looking sleek and beautiful in a very short amount of time with no additional hair products needed.

2 years later and the 1" inch Farouk CHI iron is still working great!. I haven't had any problems, I love this product and it heats up very fast. But I also treat my iron very well and protect it like the $100 dollar investment it is. The ceramic coating hasn't peeled off, nor has the red velvet that protects your fingers. I am white and have shoulder length hair that is super thick, wavy & frizzy... but you can't tell after I use this product. I can get my hair done in about 15 or 20 minutes tops; unless I'm running behind, it only takes 5-10 for a semi-acceptable hair job. And it lasts all day! Compared to the cheaper strait irons (that are sold at places like Walmart for about $20-30) which took over an hour for me to get all the waves and frizz under control (and was half frizzy again by noon).

The only warning I would give is to start at the low to medium heat settings and work your way up. When I say hot, I mean this puppy gets HOT! I think most people could easily burn their fingers or ears by touching their actual hair just after it has moved out of the iron on heat settings 8, 9 or 10. I also would suspect some of my black friends (chemically treated hair or not) could easily singe their hair off on the highest settings.

Also, there is no automatic shut off!!! SO I always check twice that I unplugged it before leaving the house. I don't want to come home to a melted counter top or the house on fire!

New and Improved. I brought this Farouk CHI Iron because my original chi didn't work anymore and finally broke after being dropped so many times. The on/off switch was jammed and the iron no longer turned on. I had it for about 2 years so I wasn't too angry about having to purchase a new iron since I figured it was time for a change. I chose this one online because it was marked down significantly from the original price. This iron is slightly bigger than my original chi, and that's just one of the other major improvements. Overall it's a big upgrade and I consider it a great purchase and I'm kind of glad my other chi broke so I had the chance to get this one. My hair glides much easier through these plates and you can control the temperature. Also it's a much thinner and sleeker version and not as bulky as the chi. It also seems to do a lot less damage on my hair than the original and I can finish straightening my hair much quicker. I would have to separate my hair into many sections with the other iron and still it wouldn't come out as straight or would puff up after stepping outside in the Miami heat and humidity almost immediately.

While the weather still has the same effect most of the times on my hair after using this iron, the good thing is that if I am in a rush I can just part my hair in half and quickly iron two big sections and get my hair pretty straight quickly, which i find comes in handy if I'm in a rush. Although supposedly you can use it on wet hair, I never have nor would I want to. However I have used it on slightly damp hair that I had washed in the morning and ironed in the evening for example and it seems to dry and straighten it extremely well. A definite upgrade that I'd recommend to anyone with the original 1 inch chi especially if you can get it for the good price that I did then it's so worth it.

Great price for a good product!! This chi is real cute with the sparkles but also works great!! I have thick, long hair and it does the job for me!! Also, I must compliment the shipping because I was not expecting to get it for at least a week but I recieved it within a week! Highly recommend!!

We originally ordered the CHI from the above vendor, received it promptly and it was as advertised. However, when it was first used, the CHI did not maintain temperature and a defective switch was detected. After contacting AM Health & Beauty on a Sunday, they replied within a couple of hours and offered to refund or replace the tool. As we just wanted a replacement, they offered to ship us a new one and enclose a return label so we would not have to pay to return the defective product! Something that is almost unheard of these days. I am very impressed by the service of AM Health & Beauty Service and would recommend them as a preferred dealer!
